I just got the beta of ChromeOS. I have it running as a virtual machine.
Not much time with it yet, but its very stripped down. Kinda like Chrome (the browser).

| Crowd-Sourcing - MacMini instead of cable TV? / 802.11N question. |
[08 May 2009|07:26pm] |
I think we have decided to get a MacMini and use it for 100% internet TV and movie downloads. This would mean we could get rid of our $170 cable TV bill! I dont think we would be missing much that we can get on the internet, but we will see. Any suggestions on this, guys? I figure Hulu, TV.com, local news via their websites and PirateBay/Demonoid should have us covered. Am I missing anything important here, cuz I think we are gunna move on this in the next few days probably.
We are also upgrading our network to 802.11N (mostly) since out old G router is dead anyhow. The Draft-N routers are so cheap now, it only makes sense to do this. Both Macs have N built in, and we can upgrade Jessica's HP when she feels like she needs to.
Another question: Im confused on whether or not all devices have to be N to have any of them connect as N (~300Mb/s). Does it have to be dual-band to do this? The N router I picked up the other day (that I am returning...thats another story) seemed to ONLY do G. I think this may be because a G device was connecting to it and it wasnt dual band, perhaps? Info on this would be frackin awesome, cuz I plan on exchanging it tomorrow and would like to know what to get.

| New FOOTBALL,ETC song. |
[20 Apr 2009|01:33am] |
This is my first mix of the new FBe song. Let me know what you think. Especially of the mix. I did it on headphones, so I have no idea how it really sounds. Opinions and suggestions are very welcome.
(CrowdSourcing is a beautiful thing.)

Yeah, its 12+ min. You should listen through the entire thing once, even if you never do again. =)

Im pretty proud of the way I have my desktop set up on my MacBook Pro. Here's a screen.
Its a PirateBay logo (that I have a sticker of on the top of my MacBook Pro) that I edited a bit to make the colour/shades to be kinda like the Apple splash screen when OSX is loading. I used GeekTool for the info about day of the week/weather/CPU and RAM Stats and the calendar. The hard drive icons are from the "Ives Drives" collection that I used with Candy Bar.
I think its simple, useful and easy on the eyes. =)

Just felt like sharing that.

[29 Jan 2009|09:52pm] |
Merlin Mann is my personal hero. For so many reasons. There are many of you on my friends list that I think would get totally into this guy and all his dimensions of personality and brilliance, but Im just gunna make this post about one; His speech at this years MacWorld Expo.
Ill post it and leave it at that for now, but expect more on him and all his neat stuff in the future.
Ok, also follow him on Twitter for really funny and fantastic stuff: twitter.com/hotdogsladies.

The 3 bands you must see:
Ultra Siberian Pant Factory Tambersauro
AND...
THE QUIETIST!!!
See us Saturday at Numbers around 5pm.
The whole shin dig should be quite an event. Very Houston music scene kinda thing. I know, I know...thats not always saying much, but the 3 bands I mentioned should make it worth it alone. Im pretty sure the whole thing is free. So that's pretty nifty.
Here is the entire list of bands and venues/times.
See you there?
Feel free to comment here and let me know to look for you and say hello/hangout. We will be at the USPFx and Tambersauro performances (probably sitting in awe right at the front of the stages) so we'd hope to see you there in addition to our performance at Numbers.

We rehearsed tonight and sounded in top form, if I may be so bold. We are confident that we wont disappoint. ...especially if you are into the whole post punk math rock thing. =)
